Here is a link to more info about this project being put forward from Developers.

http://www.taringaneighbourhood.org/topics/taringa-gateway

Taringa Gateway

A proposed development of the land bounded by Morrow Street, Harry's Road, Brigg's Street and the railway line. As well as the blocks on the other side of Harry's Road. (See a map of the area.)

The developer is indicating that the development will consist of:
  • Three high-rise buildings of between 13 and 14 floors high
  • Commercial office space (approximately 70%)
  • Residential accommodation (approximately 30%)
  • Retail area (shops, cafes and restaurants)
  • New Taringa Baptist Church building

The Taringa Neighbourhood Group is concerned about the impact of this development on the neighbourhood. It is working with the developer, Council, State Government, and the local community to ensure that the best outcome is achieved for all.

Status

The developer has submitted an application to the Brisbane City Council on 28 November 2008.

Issues

Some of the issues that need to be addressed are:
  • Increased traffic flow and parking problems
  • Shadows cast by the buildings
  • Noise from building and reflected by the buildings
  • Social impact on the community
