Attention Taringa Residents

ATTENTION TARINGA RESIDENTS

Q. What does ‘Reading Property Partners No. 1’ want to do in the Taringa community?

A. Develop 3 buildings 14 storeys in height in an area approved for a maximum of 5 storeys

(They will be taller than the Toowong Village Office Tower!)

Location of Proposed site

Reading Property Partners No 1 Pty Ltd have made a development
application to Brisbane City Council for Preliminary Approval (under
Section 3.1.6 of IPA) to override the existing planning scheme

Are you comfortable with developers attempting to totally override
existing planning legislation in your community with no regard for the
impact of their proposals?

Are you satisfied with a Council that does not fully represent the interests
of the community while favourably supporting unreasonable
development?

Consider the impacts on your property and lifestyle… ..overshadowing
from proposed buildings; generation of traffic, congestion & noise,
accessibility during & after construction…

If you care about your quality of life and what is happening in your
community its time to ask question and get answers – its time to do
something.

1 Harrys rd Taringa - Trees & Wildlife

At night time this area just LIGHTS UP with Australian Wildlife. This is my back yard. On any given night you walk around my house from the front to the back and you would count at least 10-12 Brush Tail possums non breeding season, 3 or 4 Ring Tails, Bush Turkies, Lizards, Black Bats, Many Kinds of Birds

This is what Australia is about. The fact that many can just have all that beautiful life in there own back yards is what sets Australia apart from the rest of the world. Brisbane apart from most other places in Australia.

Taringa more than alot of other Suburbs in Brisbane.

From the front of this house (1 Harrys rd, Taringa) to the back and around just this 1 block. Ive just counted 30 plus tree's along the Railway fence line to the other side of this house.

These tree's are extremely important in our City. What do we want? another Gold coast atmosphere? What happens after they cut down these 30 tree's? Its a much bigger picture here readers

This is out the front of 1 Harrys rd, Taringa. 1 of the Blocks mentioned in this new TARINGA GATEWAY PROJECT

Its not the greatest of houses on the block but its what is behind it that represents something much greater than a new Development Idea. An idea that many good hearted and well intended people are completely against.

"This is my home too"

Taringa's tree's make up what is Taringa. Not Highrise buildings.

If the development was approved i would like to see them keep this line of Tree's along the fence next to the Taringa Rail. This would at the very least sustain alot of what i would like to see continue here

This baby Ring tail came outside the pouch on Christmas day. A few hours after i picked a male Brushtail of Moggil Rd from being hit by a speeding driver

Here is the male ring tail. i think he is the Dad to the 1 above

Spaggetti on the menu tonight! lol

Below is the most import possum of them all to me. She has lived here longer than i have. Over 5 and a bit years. So iam thinking she is at least 6-7 years old.

This is a photo i took after she came back home from being treated from WILDCARE AUSTRALIA. She got Exudative Dermatitis and almost died from it. It was a very hard time for me personally to overcome the emotions i felt for her being at serious risk of dying.

Exudative Dermatitis is 1 of the Major problems along with Moggil Rd speeding drivers that many of these Animals now face because of the threat to CUT DOWN THE TREE's and take away there homes.

click link below for more info about the problem. It can be controlled and Animals saved. Ive personally worked with WILD CARE AUSTRALIA and a couple of other organizations to stop the suffering of an infected Animal.

Are the developers even thinking about this? The Speeding Zone, Exudative Dermatitis and Wildlife? Cause if you relocate a Brushtail possum somewhere its not used to living it will get into a lot of trouble from other Brushtails fighting, scratching, stress causing Exudative Dermatitis

Exudative Dermatitis

Here is Miss Piggy still. Soon i will do a proper post about her!

Bush Turkeys! This baby bush was great to see grow up. Brisbane has many. of course the can be relocated. Like to see you catch em first! lol

2 Adult Bush Turkeys

Here is Monty. thats his name. he has many other brothers and sisters around the yard also

Below is a Brushtail called FATSO! She has had 2 babies in past 2 years and ive watched her take care of them til they were ready to leave home. Sometimes i can't keep her out of the house and thats the way she likes it!

As you can see, its Breeding seasons again.

Below are a couple of Brushtails still looking for somewhere to sleep at 6:00am in the morning. Its not normal to see them during the daylights but that just shows you the sheer numbers on this property.

They really are special Australian's

This little fella sure loves dem banana's! infact they all do. But give them a Mango and they will love you forever. note: don't feed them white bread of rolls. it lowers there own imune system to Exudative Dermatitis
